Staring into the darkness and making a resolution. You will see the light again. No matter how difficult it is to find, no matter how many people doubt you, you will see the light again. You whet your lips and whisper it to yourself. “I will see the light again.” You can hear the hollowness in your own voice but refuse to give in. It would be so easy now. Just turn around and admit to them that you were wrong. That you aren’t strong enough. That you aren’t going anywhere.
Take a deep breath in. Let it fill your chest, try and relieve a bit of that weight in your heart. And out. In and out. Close your eyes. Picture the light and believe in the light, because if you turn back you can never try again.
You can hear the music again.
You walk. Slowly at first, one foot carefully placed in front of the other, and then fast and faster until your walk becomes a run, until that run becomes a momentum that you can’t stop.
Go with it. Let it flow through you.
You’ll reach us soon, I promise.
